Matt Terry wins The X Factor 2016 final

Matt Terry wins The X Factor 2016 final, releases winner’s single When Christmas Comes Around. Will it be this year’s Official Christmas Number 1?

Matt Terry has won the X Factor 2016 final.

After a tense final against Saara Aalto, Matt emerged as the winner of the show’s 13th series.

Matt now releases his winner’s single When Christmas Comes Around, which is available to download and stream now. The track was written by Ed Sheeran. Proceeds from downloads and streams of the song will go to children’s charities Together for Short Lives and Shooting Star Chase.

“Thank you so much everybody,” an emotional Matt said after being crowned the winner.

This year’s series was said to be one of the closest ever, with all three finalists having been in the bottom two at least once for the first time in the show’s history.

When Christmas Comes Around is now a contender for the 2016 Official Christmas Number 1, which this year is revealed on Friday, December 23. Seven of the X Factor’s previous 12 winners have secured it – the last being Ben Haenow’s Something I Need in 2014.   But –  where are all the other previous winners now and how long will it be until Matt is totally forgotten?  Give it until Easter I would guess !
